GRSE approves ₹2,896 crore greenfield shipyard

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has approved a ₹2,896 crore capital outlay to build a greenfield shipyard at Raichak, West Bengal.

The proposed facility is designed to expand shipbuilding capacity across naval and commercial vessels, including warships up to 200 metres and commercial ships up to 60,000 DWT.

This is a capacity expansion story rather than an immediate order announcement.

The key factors I would track are project execution, capital deployment and the timeline for the new facility to contribute to production capacity.

GRSE reported Q1 FY27 revenue of ₹1,815 crore, up 38% YoY, while net profit increased 44% YoY to ₹173 crore.

The company's ability to convert its existing order pipeline into revenue while funding this expansion will be important over the coming quarters.
